(sits'mark'), n. Skiing 1.) a sunken area in the snow marking a backward fall of a
skier. 2.) a loosely organized society of skiers, braggarts, drinkers, and usually
obnoxious, but prize-winning hell raisers.
Sitzmark Ski Club is a medium size club with approximately 80 members from the ages of
8 and up. Our oldest member is somewhere around 70, and going strong. We are a long
established club that started in Libertyville, Illinois in 1946, with both single and
married members.
Each May, the Sitzmark Trip Chairman, along with a his/her committee, attend the annual
Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council (CMSC) Trip Seminar to plan the next season's schedule of day, weekend and week long ski
trips. At the seminar, our club meets with ski resort personnel, tour operators, travel
agents, condominium associations, bus lines, and airlines to negotiate the best deals for
our club. As a result of the seminar, Sitzmark is able to offer a variety of trips to our
members.
Sitzmark has been an active racing club in the CMSC Alpine Racing Program. If you're a
beginner or expert ,or anywhere in between, there is a place for you on the race course.
Throughout the years, Sitzmark has been a strong competitor in the program. If you want to
put a little challenge into your skiing or crave the thrill of competition, come out and
try it next season. Any member of our Board can fill you in on all the details.
Sitzmark is not only a ski club, but a year-round club. We have annual Halloween
Parties, Christmas Parties, a Year End Banquet, Golf Outing, Pig Roasts, Bike Outings,
Tubing, Rafting, camping, and much, much more!
All of our club activities are open to all members.
