August 20th – Beach Party at Carol’s August 21st: Biking 10 am. - Grant Woods Forest Preserve. Meet in first parking lot on left as you enter the preserve. We'll go to Fairmont Shores afterwards. August 27th - Cubs/Brewer Game, Milwaukee Miller Park September 1st – Ravinia – Lynrd Skynrd September 2nd – Ravinia – Doobie Brothers September 4th: Bike Des Plaines River Trail. Meet at Old School Forest Preserve in first parking lot on left (10 am). We’ll bike south to Half Day where we will stop at Flatlanders before riding back to Libertyville. September 10th – Annual Golf Outing September 18th: Bike a new trail. Meet in parking lot in back of Doyles in Richmond (10 am). We’ll ride north on the McHenry County Trail to catch the Hebron Trail. Following the ride we’ll enjoy a “pint” at Doyles. September 23rd – Bar Hop, Bliss, Wauconda September 25th: Bike McClory/North Shore Trail. Meet at Lake Bluff Brewing Company (10 am). We’ll ride south to Lake-Cook Road and back. Afterwards, we’ll sample some microbrews and lunch at the brewery. October 2nd: 9:30 am. Last Bike ride of the season will be starting at Singing Hills Forest Preserve located off Gilmer Road just east of Volo. As the Bears have a noon game this will be a “quick” ride. What: We will be staying at Chalet Landaus and biking the Badger State Trail on Saturday. We will bike from New Glarus to Belleville, Wi, where we will enjoy lunch at a local establishment and then ride back, approximately miles 16-20. You may spend the rest of the day shopping and exploring the quaint Swiss village of New Glarus, relax in the pool or hot tub at Chalet Landhaus or go to the nearby New Glarus Brewery and enjoy some tasty, locally brewed beer. Saturday night we will have a group dinner at a local restaurant – walking distance from our hotel. Contact Chalet Landhaus (www.chaletlandhaus.com) to reserve your room. Day Hike at Matthiessen State Park When: Saturday, October 15th. What: Hiking Matthiessen State Park, located in central LaSalle County not far from Utica, IL. Beautiful rock formations, canyons, streams, prairie, and forest combine to amaze visitors. Bring your comfy hiking boots, camera, and sense of adventure for a memorable time.
