Midwest Ski Trip 2026

Sitzmark will be going to Snowriver Resort, formerly known as Indianhead, from Thursday January 22 to Sunday January 25. We have rented 5, 2 bedroom/2 bathroom condos(Bear Creek Condos) that are ski-in/ski-out. We have stayed in them before and it looks like they have been updated a little bit. It’s definitely a nice location.

As of now for lodging only it will be $275/person for the 3 night stay. I am going to look into arranging a club dinner in the lodge for us. Once I get some information on that I will let everyone know the details.

Snowriver Mountain Resort spans two mountains—Jackson Creek Summit and Black River Basin, which are separated by a brief shuttle ride. 

 After two years of major renovations to its chalets and lodge, Snowriver is now home to the only high-speed chairlift in the Upper Peninsula, the Voyageur Express 6-pack at Jackson Creek Summit, which reduces lift times from nine minutes to just three minutes from bottom to top.

I was told that we can get a discount on lift tickets but we will need to purchase 20 of the same ticket in order to get the discount. I will reach out to them again to see what else they can do for us. Snowriver also owns Lutsen in MInnesota and Granite Peak and they do have a 3 day flex pass that can be used at all three ski areas. Below is the link for lift tickets.

I have had a couple of people express an interest in extending the stay until Monday. If you are interested in doing that please let me know and I will look into the possibility of doing that.

Sitzmark is going to Crested Butte

Come and join your fellow Sitzmarkers for a fun week of skiing at Crested Butte! We will be going from Saturday February 28, 2026 to Saturday March 7, 2026. We are booked at The Plaza Condominiums, in 2 bedroom/2 bathroom units and it is a short walk to the Silver Queen lift. The condo building has an onsite restaurant and bar and has 2 hot tubs. It also has one covered parking spot/condo.

Crested Butte is approximately 30 miles from the Gunnison airport and United does have one non-stop/day from Chicago but it looks like it’s only available on the way there, on the way back to Chicago it has one stop in Denver. American also flies to Gunnison but with one stop. Current roundtrip air starts at around $500.

We usually hire a bus to get us back and forth from the airport but looking at the flight times of United and American, it might require a long wait at the airport for some. The non-stop flight from O’Hare to Gunnison doesn’t leave until 3pm and arrives around 5 pm. It looks like American only offers morning or evening one stop flights to Gunnison. There are airport shuttles available for about $55 one way. This might be the best option but something we can discuss.

So what is the cost?

If we do lodging and club dinner/party it will be:

$800/person single supplement is an extra $656

If we add a bus it will be an extra $150/person based on 20 people on the bus.
