2022 Sitzmark Holiday Party Recap:

So this year, the Holiday party had a new location at the Gredell’s in Des Plaines. I was a bit leery that people would not want to make the trek to Des Plaines but boy, was I wrong. We had 30 people who brought wonderful appetizers and desserts. It seemed that everyone had a blast. Of course, the White Elephant gift exchange may have been a factor. I haven’t laughed that much in months.

Some of the unique gifts that I remember (this is putting it nicely) were a coconut sculpture of a monkey, a small naked statue of a male body builder who had a very very large penis (who buys this stuff????), a crocheted penis sock, exotic toys with a related DVD (we do know who bought/gave away that gift but, I wont tell), naked Barbie Dolls ( I see a trend here) and then regular boring stuff like old random DVD’s, ruler that holds pictures, ornaments and holiday nicknacks that were placed in creative places around our house. The Penis Man was found in our kitchen freezer and no, the penis neither shrunk or fell off. The ruler was found in our kitchen desk and so on. Just  remember, payback is a bitch!!!!!! The old lady wind up toy resurfaced and will certainly be regifted again. It’s a tradition. Some people actually were happy with their gifts of a Hot Wheels track, glass tumblers with pictures & explanations of a Sitzmark and a full collectors bottle of Jim Beam.

We really want to thank everyone for coming and making this Holiday party a memorable one. I was concerned it could not live up to previous ones held at the Sedlacko’s home which were epic but, I think all would agree that this years party was a good replacement. Thank you Sedlacko’s for hosting for so many years.

Al and I wish everyone a healthy and safe holiday season.

Sewasp Looking for Volunteers
PHYSICALLY IMPAIRED LIAISON (SEWASP) –John Benway benwayconsulting@comcast.net

SEWASP will hold lessons on Thursday nights at Alpine Valley Resort from 6:30pm to 9pm from January 5 to March 9, weather permitting. We conduct both adaptive ski lessons and adaptive snowboarding lessons. If you know anyone interested in taking an adaptive ski/snowboarding lesson, please email our Program Coordinator, Terri Henderson, at sewaspemail2@gmail.com or feel free to contact me.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with our lessons. Volunteers go out on the hill with the instructor and most likely a second volunteer. And, of course, the student!
We require that our volunteers can ski/ride at least green terrain and load/unload the chairlift. By the way, if you volunteer, you do not have to be there every Thursday night.
All the dryland sessions and the first two on-snow sessions were well attended and went very well. The last on snow session will be at Alpine Valley Resort on December 15 from 6:30pm to 10pm, weather permitting. Please do not just show up. We need numbers so we can be ready for the sessions. If you wish to attend, please email our Program Coordinator, Terri Henderson, at sewaspemail2@gmail.com
The same is true for lesson nights. We need to know who will be there so we can coordinate instructors and volunteers with participants.
From all of us at SEWASP, we want to thank you for all your support in 2022 and look forward to your continued support in 2023.

WILMOT MTN - From Wilmot fb page - 12.16.22:
Good Morning! As promised, I wanted to provide you an update on how the resort is tracking toward re-opening. We will remain closed through Saturday but will give you another update on Saturday afternoon on what we can expect for Sunday and through the week.
Snowmaking temps look favorable on Friday and Saturday which I expect will give us a window to make more snow. Right now, we’re focused on rebuilding snow on the 5-8 trails we initially had open and the pop-up park.
By focusing on rebuilding the snow base from our opening package of terrain, we will be in great position to work towards opening more terrain before the holidays—as long as the current forecast stays on track.
Thank you again for your continued patience as we continue to manage through early season weather.
