118th Norge Annual Winter Ski Jump Tournament
POSTPONED
Saturday February 11 & Sunday February 12
Noon-4PM
Gates Open at 11AM

FROM THE BOARD OF THE NORGE SKI CLUB

After careful consideration for the safety of our athletes,

the 2023 Norge Winter Tournament is postponed.

The new dates are Saturday February 11 and Sunday February 12.

Buttons and VIP tickets purchased for the tournament

are valid for the new dates!

Due to January’s unseasonable temperatures,

it hasn’t stayed cold enough for snowmaking.

The good news is sustained cold temperatures are expected

this weekend and next week. That means conditions should allow us

to start making snow again.

A few inches of snow from Mother Nature look nice –

it’s not nearly enough snow to create safe conditions for our athletes.

It takes tons of snow and grooming to cover the Norge jumps and hills.

We’re disappointed to have to postpone the 2023 tournament weekend,

but we can’t wait to see you February 11-12!

Both days, the schedule stays the same: gates open at 11:00 AM

and opening ceremonies start at Noon.

Sewasp Looking for Volunteers
PHYSICALLY IMPAIRED LIAISON (SEWASP) –John Benway benwayconsulting@comcast.net

SEWASP will hold lessons on Thursday nights at Alpine Valley Resort from 6:30pm to 9pm from January 5 to March 9, weather permitting. We conduct both adaptive ski lessons and adaptive snowboarding lessons. If you know anyone interested in taking an adaptive ski/snowboarding lesson, please email our Program Coordinator, Terri Henderson, at sewaspemail2@gmail.com or feel free to contact me.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with our lessons. Volunteers go out on the hill with the instructor and most likely a second volunteer. And, of course, the student!
We require that our volunteers can ski/ride at least green terrain and load/unload the chairlift. By the way, if you volunteer, you do not have to be there every Thursday night.
All the dryland sessions and the first two on-snow sessions were well attended and went very well. The last on snow session will be at Alpine Valley Resort on December 15 from 6:30pm to 10pm, weather permitting. Please do not just show up. We need numbers so we can be ready for the sessions. If you wish to attend, please email our Program Coordinator, Terri Henderson, at sewaspemail2@gmail.com
The same is true for lesson nights. We need to know who will be there so we can coordinate instructors and volunteers with participants.
From all of us at SEWASP, we want to thank you for all your support in 2022 and look forward to your continued support in 2023.
